Who I Am
I am Juliet McDonnell, a UKCP-registered psychotherapist working in private practice. For the purposes of data protection, I am the data controller of your personal information.
What Information I Collect
When you contact me via this website, email, phone, or in person, I may collect the following personal data:
- Your name and contact details (e.g. email, phone number, address)
- Brief information about why you are seeking therapy or supervision
- The name and address of your GP ( for psychotherapy work only).
- Any other information you choose to share
If we agree to work together, this information will be held and handled securely and confidentially, as part of our therapeutic or supervisory work.
How Your Information Is Used
I use your personal information to:
- Respond to your enquiries
- Arrange and provide therapy or supervision sessions
- Maintain appropriate records, in line with professional requirements
- Comply with legal or regulatory obligations (e.g. insurance, supervision)
- Your GP holds clinical responsibility for your mental and physical health, I may (as per our contract), contact your GP if I am concerned about any risk of harm to yourself. I will always seek to discuss any contact with your GP with you first.
I do not use your information for marketing or share your data with third parties for promotional purposes.
Lawful Basis for Processing
The lawful basis for processing your personal data is:
- Contractual – to provide psychotherapy or supervision services at your request
- Legitimate interest – to respond to your initial enquiry
- Legal obligation – to maintain appropriate records for my professional indemnity insurance and regulatory compliance
Confidentiality and Data Storage
All personal information is stored securely in line with UKCP guidelines and data protection law. Your data will not be shared unless required by law, or if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others.
I hold your personal information for as long as we work together. After our final session, I delete this information, unless we agree there may be follow up work. Your phone number and any messages/emails from you, or to you, are also permanently deleted.
Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data I hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
- Request deletion of your data (subject to legal and professional obligations)
- Object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances
